This Smith Farm Garden wedding was one of those days where everything came together in the most natural, beautiful way. The kind of celebration that feels less like a production. It was more like an extension of who the couple actually is.
Getting Ready in the Light
The day started quietly in one of Smith Farm Garden’s getting-ready spaces. Soft light poured through the windows while the bride slipped into her Savannah Miller halter gown. That dress, simple and sleek with a plunging neckline, was absolutely perfect for her. She paired it with a romantic lace-edged veil that trailed behind her as she walked. Meanwhile, the groom was buttoning up his classic black tux, the kind of timeless choice that never goes out of style.
The Ceremony Under Open Sky
Smith Farm Gardens is one of those venues that doesn’t need much. The gardens do all the talking. Guests settled into wooden cross-back chairs under the shade of mature trees, and the aisle was lined with lush arrangements from Jakkelyn Iris. We’re talking anthuriums, calla lilies, and cascading greenery that felt organic and wild but still completely intentional.
When the bride made her entrance with that long lace veil catching the breeze and her cascading bouquet of greens and creams, you could feel the moment. The ceremony was personal and genuine. The kind where you can tell the couple wrote their own vows. They stood between those incredible floral installations and said their I-do’s while sunlight filtered through the leaves above.
Cocktail Hour in the Gardens
After the ceremony, everyone wandered through Smith Farm Garden with drinks in hand. The property is stunning on its own, with flower beds in full bloom, striped parasols shading little seating areas, and that charming historic house as a backdrop. The couple took some time to walk the grounds, and honestly, those in-between moments when they’re just laughing together or stealing a quiet second are always my favorite to capture.
A Reception That Felt Like a Dream
Wildflower Event Design really outdid themselves with the reception space. Under a beautifully draped tent with Ryan Designs handling the lighting, long tables were set with elegant simplicity. Think tall glass candles, fresh calla lilies laid along the runners, cream roses mixed with Queen Anne’s lace, and clusters of grapes adding an unexpected touch. The linens had this subtle texture, and the whole setup felt elevated but not fussy.
A Thyme To Cook put together a menu that had everyone raving, and as the sun set, the string lights came on and the whole space just glowed. There were toasts, laughter, and at some point during dinner, someone played a Mariah Carey song and the entire reception broke into spontaneous song. That’s the kind of magic you can’t plan.
Dancing the Night Away
Once dinner wrapped, the dance floor opened up and it was pure joy. A disco ball hung from the tent ceiling, and guests were out there all night. The groom got lifted up by his friends at one point, the bride was spinning around in her gown, and the energy never dipped.
By the time the night ended and the tent was glowing against the dark sky, it felt like we’d all been part of something really special.
Why Smith Farm Gardens Works So Well
If you’re considering Smith Farm Garden for your wedding, here’s what makes it such a great choice. The gardens are legitimately beautiful, so your ceremony backdrop is already handled. There’s space to spread out for cocktail hour, the historic buildings add character, and the grounds photograph like a dream in any light.
The venue has that Connecticut garden charm without feeling overly formal. It works for couples who want something elegant but not stuffy, classic but not boring. And because the setting is so naturally gorgeous, you don’t need to go overboard on decor to make it feel complete.
This Smith Farm Garden wedding was the kind that reminds you why you love what you do. Beautiful people, a stunning setting, and a day that felt authentic from start to finish.
