A Private Estate Wedding in Norwich, Vermont

There’s something about a Vermont summer wedding that just feels right. L and W’s celebration at a private estate in Norwich captured everything we love about shooting in the Green Mountain State: rolling hills that seem to go on forever, wildflowers nodding in the breeze, and that particular quality of light that makes golden hour look like honey.

A Classic New England Church Ceremony

The day started at a classic New England church, where L walked down the aisle in a stunning strapless lace gown, carrying a loose bouquet of daisies and wildflowers that perfectly matched the relaxed elegance of the whole celebration. When they turned to walk back down the aisle as a married couple, the joy on their faces was something you could feel in your chest.

The Private Estate Reception Setting

The real magic happened at the reception, though. The couple chose a private estate with views that reminded us why Vermont wedding photographers never get tired of this landscape. A sailcloth tent sat on a hillside overlooking fields and forest, the kind of view that makes guests actually put down their phones and just look. We watched the shadows grow longer across the grass while people mingled under a pergola, drinks in hand, soaking up the last warmth of the afternoon.

Thoughtful Details and Natural Design

The details were thoughtful without being fussy. Wildflower centerpieces in soft whites and yellows echoed the bride’s bouquet. Table numbers in acrylic caught the light. Simple olive-green menus on white plates. Everything felt intentional but not overly precious, which is honestly the sweet spot for any wedding.

Capturing the In-Between Moments

As Vermont wedding photographers, we live for those in-between moments, the ones that happen when people forget we’re there. L and W sneaking away to walk through the meadow at sunset, her lace train trailing through the grass. The bridesmaids in their mismatched pastels, raising champagne glasses and genuinely cracking up about something. The musicians silhouetted behind a backlit blue curtain, guitar necks visible in shadow. That bee that decided the centerpiece was more interesting than the ceremony.

Dancing into the Vermont Night

When the sun finally dropped behind the hills, the tent glowed against the darkening sky like a lantern. Inside, people danced, sang along to the band, and celebrated these two people who clearly meant the world to them. The night ended with fireworks bursting over the tent, bright against the Vermont night.

Why We Love Vermont Weddings

This is why we do what we do. Not for the perfect shot (though we’ll take it), but for the whole messy, beautiful, unrepeatable experience of two people starting their lives together, surrounded by everyone they love, in a place that takes your breath away.
