E+ P | Deering Estate Wedding

The first time you drive through those wooden gates at Deering Estate, it hits you.

All the Miami chaos just stops. One second you’re in traffic, the next you’re on this tree-covered path that feels like you’ve time-traveled. Spanish buildings, massive royal palms, and Biscayne Bay sitting there all calm and sparkly. It’s kind of surreal.

Ceremonies by the Bay

Most couples get married on the Grand Lawn right at the water’s edge. The bay’s on one side, that old Stone House behind you, and your people all gathered around. Late afternoon here is ridiculous in the best way. The light bounces off the water and makes everyone look like they’re in a movie.

I’ve shot a bunch of ceremonies here and that spot just has something. A calmness that comes through in the photos every time.

DINING AL FRESCO

Once the sun goes down, dinner in the courtyard is where things get really good. You’re surrounded by old buildings and gardens, string lights hanging overhead, candles everywhere. It feels cozy even though you’re outside.

Some couples do the tented thing in Royal Palm Grove instead, which I also love. You still get the palm trees and water views, but you’re under a tent so there’s no worrying about weather. When it’s all lit up at night, it’s pretty dreamy.

The Light Situation

Miami light is its own thing, especially right on the water like this. Golden hour hits different here. Everything glows. Then you get that blue hour during dinner when the sky’s still got color but it’s dark enough that all the candles and string lights really pop.

Toasts usually happen right in that perfect in-between time. Dancing starts when it’s fully dark with stars out and palm trees black against the sky.

Why I Like Shooting Here

There’s so much variety. Water shots. Architecture shots. Jungle-y tree canopy stuff. Pretty reception details. We can get totally different looks without having to leave or rush around, and you can always tell it’s Miami in the photos. That bay, that light, those palms. It’s not generic venue vibes.
